Rehearsals

  • Mondays @ 7.30pm – practices are at the Church Hall, Lairg. Contact the Secretary for details.

    Closer to the Local and National Mods practices are held twice weekly on a Monday and Thursday night at the above venues at @7.30pm.

Coilich a Chinn a Tuath - Male Voice Choir

  • Graham Hood Photography Our male voice choir consists of some Melvich and some Lairg members.  Conducted by Mr John Brozovsky for the first time last year in Dunoon where they won the Friday morning competition. (Sgiath Mhuile agus Idhe).  They are currently preparing for the Pan Celtic Festival in Carlow, Ireland from the 1st April - 8th April.

Other information

  • Lairg Gaelic Choir was formed in 1976 and has competed at the National Mod since 1978. It draws Members from Central and East Sutherland including Lairg, Rosehall, Dornoch, Embo Brora, and Golspie.

    The Choir has enjoyed success at the National Mod in the Sheriff John MacMaster Campbell Memorial Trophy for rural choirs and currently has approximately 30 enthusiastic choristers under the baton of Leslie Cranna and Gaelic tuition by Bea Mackay and Alister Gordon, and diction by Alasdair Bauld.

    The Choir are a sociable bunch and new members are always welcome to attend - knowledge of Gaelic is not essential as recordings, translations and tuition will be provided.
