Choir Members - Còisir Ghàidhlig Chàrlabhaigh
Còisir Ghàidhlig Chàrlabhaigh was established in May 2011 and is the first ever adult Gaelic choir in the Carloway area. The choir took part in its first Royal National Mòd that year in Stornoway and usually competes in the Lorn Shield and the Puirt competitions. The choir is conducted by Màiri Macleod whose family is from Carloway on her father’s side. The choir meets for rehearsals on a Monday night in the Carloway community centre. Choristers living elsewhere for work or who are away travelling can join the practices via Zoom link. Choir uniform includes blue Harris Tweed ties and corsages made from cloth donated by the Carloway Mill. CGC is a small choir but organises many community events each year, including a popular annual Pre-Mòd Ceilidh, soup & pudding lunch and Saturday workshops. A number of choir members sing solo and precent Gaelic Psalms.
