Choir Members - Coisir Ghaidhlig An Iar Thuath

Our relatively “new” choir was formed in 2006, led then as now by our fantastic conductor Lisa MacDonald. Her two children were born during the choir’s early years and were brought up very much as a part of our extended choir family, so much so, they now sing with us! The first Mòd we competed in was at Thurso in 2010 and we have never looked back. Our members come from across the rural North West Highlands. We practise regularly in Ullapool at the local Parish Hub and have started to use online Zoom links for those from a distance - especially over the winter months.

We perform locally at community fund-raising activities, and annually at the Royal British Legion Christmas Dinner. We held a very successful Open Night - to encourage new members but we are always on the look-out for more singers - proficiency in Gaelic is not required - just a love of singing and a willingness to learn.

We are a very happy band of singers and love going away for the Rural Choir workshops and the Annual Mòd - always trying to get accommodation to fit everyone in together where we can share meals - and a few refreshments!

Please do get in touch if you are interested in finding out more about joining our happy band.
