An Comunn Gaidhealach, organisers of Am Mòd Naiseanta Rioghail announced at the beginning of June 2005 that the event will be rotated around a set number of locations based on the five regions of Scotland where An Commun has its membership base. The new system will be aimed at eliminating towns and villages regarded as unsuitable.
The regions running the Mòd from 2008 will be as follows:
2008 – South West Region
2009 – Argyll Region
2010 – Northern Region
2011 – Western Isles Region
2012 – Argyll
2013 – Northern Region
2014 – South East Region
An Comunn has agreed to introduce this new system, which will see the Mòd return in rotation to areas within the 5 regions. Both Argyll and Highland will host the Mòd every three years as the main towns in their respective areas are suitable – Dunoon and Oban and Inverness and Fort William. It will be held in the Western Isles every six years. The local Branches of An Comunn Gaidhealach in the appropriate area will still be required to bid for the Mòd.
